Uncovering a Passion for Care with CTA
With a kind, gentle and warm spirit, for the past two-years Ben Duncan has fulfilled the role of full-time carer for his best friend, sharing care support and friendship. With this experience, Ben reflected on his career aspirations and goals, and took the chance to rethink his career in sales.
Feeling unsure of what his next career moves would be, Ben was referred to the Navitas English Career Transition Assistance (CTA) program, to guide him in finding his passion.
With support and guidance from his facilitators in the CTA program, Ben reflected on his experience as a carer and began to realise his true passion. After reflecting on how it made him feel to be there for his friend during his time of need, Ben realised that he wanted to continue making a difference in people’s lives in the Community Services sector.
Uncovering a career goal to become a qualified Support Worker, Ben’s facilitators Bernie and Kylie worked with him to create a Career Pathway Plan with clear action steps toward his goal. By the end of the program, Ben now has a professional online profile, tailored resume and cover letter, and has started applying for community jobs.
Ben said: “I would like to express my gratitude to Navitas English and especially the facilitators, Bernie and Kylie on their superhuman efforts. I definitely learned a lot and was inspired, both by the facilitators and the guest presenters. I am looking forward to my next career moves as well as the future.”
Through the CTA program, Ben has uncovered his passion, a new career direction, and started big steps towards his new career.
We wish Ben all the best in his future endeavours!
