Navitas English receives prestigious Premier’s Award

Navitas English is honoured to have received the Corporate Business Excellence Medal in the 2021 Premier’s Multicultural Community Medals.

The medal, presented at the Premier’s Harmony Dinner on Saturday night (March 13), recognises the outstanding achievements of a business in creating employment and other opportunities that value and promote diversity and inclusion.

The medals are considered a highlight of the annual event, which celebrates the diverse cultures, languages and religions of all citizens in NSW.

The award was presented by the NSW Minister for Multiculturalism, Dr Geoff Lee to the Executive General Manager of Government Services and Employment at Navitas, Michael Cox. Navitas English was also represented at the Sydney event by General Manager Jetinder Macfarlane, Stakeholder Engagement Manager Genevieve Lewis, Community Liaison Officer, Basim Shamaon and Contracts Manager, Steven Endres.

Ms Macfarlane said it was an honour to be formally recognised for the work being done every day by passionate staff at Navitas English colleges at a community level.

“Navitas English has been transforming the lives of newly arrived migrants and refugees for over 20 years,” she said.

“Our focus has always been on meeting the diverse needs of individuals by collaborating with the broader community to support people on their personal journeys.

“We are proud of our continued engagement with local communities, achieving genuine settlement and employment outcomes, and contributing to an inclusive Australian workplace.”

Stakeholder Engagement Manager Genevieve Lewis added:

“Our students always comment on the sense of belonging they feel at Navitas, which offers a safe and welcoming learning environment. Our passionate staff have grassroots connections that lead to unique projects and opportunities. We give our learners the tools and the confidence they need to live their best lives.”

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the award winners had made significant contributions to the community, especially over the past year through the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I congratulate all of tonight’s medal recipients for their outstanding service and dedication,” Ms Berejiklian said.

“I especially want to recognise the sacrifices you have made over the past year, and thank you for the support you have provided to vulnerable members of our community.”
