The CTA course taught Srimanta (Sri) Rath all the skills he needed to prepare, look for and apply for work, but his newfound skills of confidence, persistence and patience are what the former operations manager values most.

At age 60 – and after four years of being out of being out of full-time work – Sri says it is natural to feel like giving up.

But the Sydney resident says he enjoys contributing to the workforce, and has so much more to give, so he is grateful for his new lease on life.

“I came to Navitas because I wanted to improve on my overall presentation skills, including resume and cover letter preparation, interview skills and overall communication,” Sri says. “But I gained so much more.”

“My trainers Kylie and Bernadette provided thought leadership throughout the program delivery. I found the program had a good balance of practical and theoretical approaches.

“When I needed it, I received one-on-one attention, which was outstanding. It wasn’t a one-size-fits-all course; everything was tailored to my situation.”

Sri, who has been employed as an operations manager in various industries, including manufacturing, was most recently working as a business consultant. But he hoped his qualification in project management, years of experience and skills would be welcome at a company looking for a full-time operations manager.

He completed the CTA course online in six weeks and has started to apply for jobs. He has already received some positive feedback and is confident of future success.

“The program has given me a lot of confidence to apply for jobs, and be persistent and have patience for the job search,” he says.

“I now just have to find the right job for me.”
