Connecting NSF clients to careers
As part of providing practical job skills to migrants and refugees, Navitas Skilled Futures (NSF) actively supports employment information events. Recently, NSF took part in local jobs fairs for National Skills Week in Victoria, as well as the popular Pathways to Employment Expo in Fairfield, NSW.
NSF Stakeholder Engagement Manager Basim Shamaon was on the Fairfield expo organising committee and was the MC for the day. He was thrilled that over 300 NSF clients attended, despite the expo falling on one of the wettest days of the year. “Attending events such as this gives our clients the chance to network and see where they are at with their skills,” he said.
“Many are very serious about obtaining work as quickly as possible and came armed with their resumes ready to give to potential employers.”

“We’re proud to be involved in these events, which are all about providing opportunities for connecting with employers and learning valuable job seeking skills,” he said.
With over 49 stallholders at the Fairfield expo, clients from NSF could talk to employers such as the Western Sydney Airport, John Holland Group and the Dental Assistants Professional Association. They could also speak to services such as Thrive Refugee Enterprise which helps refugees with financing for starting a business.
NSF also hosted a workshop on resume skills and promoted our colleges to attendees who came from all over the Southwest Sydney Region.
