Achieving a qualification
To receive Certificate I in Workplace Skills, you must successfully complete Assessments in 2 core and 4 elective units of competency.
A Statement of Attainment will be awarded for successfully completed units of competency.
For success, we recommend you:
- Attend classes regularly,
- Complete coursework, and
- Successfully complete assessments.

1. What will I learn in the Workplace Skills 1 course?
You will learn Workplace Skills for entry level job roles. You will also learn about working life in Australia and how to find a job.
2. How do I enrol in the Workplace Skills 1 course?

3. How do I start the Workplace Skills 1 course with NSF?
You will have a short test to find your level of LLN skills (language, literacy and numeracy), meet our friendly team, and plan your pathway.
4. How long will each unit take to complete?
Most units take 80-100 hours to complete – this includes additional support. For example, students without knowledge of Australian workplaces, or students who need support with reading, writing, numeracy and digital skills, or with the English language, may need additional time or tuition.
Fastest – If you already have the skills, knowledge and competency, you could enrol for RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) and complete the assessment tasks only.
5. How long will the course take to complete?
Usually this qualification takes about 6 months to complete. Students without knowledge of Australian workplaces, or students who need support with reading, writing, numeracy and digital skills, or with the English language, may require longer than this to gain the knowledge and skills required to pass.
Fastest – If you already have the knowledge, skills and competency, you could enrol for RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) for some or all of the units, and complete the assessment tasks within 1-2 months.
6. Will I get a certificate after completing the course?
Successful students will get a nationally accredited certificate or statement.
