Navitas Skilled Futures (NSF) Parramatta college kicked off the Year of Fire Horse with vibrant Lunar New Year celebrations. Lunar New Year is a cherished tradition for East and Southeast Asian communities worldwide, bringing families together to honour ancestors and welcome good fortune.
Being far from home country did not dampen the Lunar New Year spirit at NSF. The students and teachers came together to bring the celebration to life with vibrant performances, culture share, and great food.
“The party was absolutely wonderful! It was exciting and heartwarming. Even though we are far from our homeland, we could still feel the joy, happiness and harmony brought by the Chinese New Year,” shares Lanying Xu, student at NSF Paramatta. “Thanks to the teachers for organising, and students who participated in the performances for their dedication and preparation. Everyone worked hard! Watching the performances brought me joy and delight.”
While the event was a wonderful opportunity for students from diverse backgrounds to come together, enjoy performances, share food, celebrate, and learn about Chinese culture, it held even more significance for some, who enjoyed a double celebration.
Yaling Peng, student at NSF Paramatta said, “I am so happy that I could participate in this celebration. It happened to be my birthday on the day. I am grateful that I could spend my birthday in this joyful party, which is truly unforgettable.”
